The People’s Fund is a loving nudge and support for impact startups with a mission too important to jeopardize.
Our ambition is to create a community of impact founders willing to support each other, increase the fanbase for the startups that’s open to contribute to the success of the founders and democratise the funding process. We see the event only as a means and a starting point for our mission.
In the first edition, all the 10-15 participating international startups contribute towards the prize money, which we’ll call a ‘micro-fund’. The audience will also contribute a small amount of money to the micro-fund via tickets. The selected startups themselves will vote to pick the 5 finalists. During an event, following pitches and interaction with a panel and the audience, the winner will be picked on the spot by the audience. In this first edition, the winner gets awarded the collected micro-fund.
We’ll do our bit to keep the whole process as transparent as possible. We are also exploring new means to make the funds larger in the future editions.
There was no open call for applicants in this edition. We reached out to some of the best startup hubs in several countries and asked them to nominate their champion founders.
